Once again the Triton Super High Roller Series delivered high-stakes drama in Jeju as two big names in the poker scene battled back and forth to determine the winner.
Dvoress Denies Koon Another Title
History appeared to be on Koon's side as he entered the last stages of the $100,000 short deck event.
Koon has a good heads-up record and had already won 12 Triton titles, and for a moment it seemed like he was going to capture his thirteenth title.
However, things did not go as expected, and Dvoress had other plans.
Dvoress flipped the script and emerged victorious, taking home the title and $1,380,000. This victory was the Canadian pro's third Triton title and first win since 2023.
Furthermore, it was his eighth seven-figure score in his career, and it pushed his total live earnings to over $53 million.
Koon earned $997,000 for his second-place finish.
It was the ending he expected, but this score boosted his total career earnings to $71,812,748 which puts him third on the all-time poker money list, after Bryn Kenney and Stephen Chidwick.
A Long Grind to the Money
The tournament attracted 46 entries and generated a massive prize pool of $4,600,000.
Only 20 players managed to make it to Day 2, and it took seven hours of back-and-forth action for the event to reach the money bubble.
Koon was in control of the action at this stage.
In an exciting hand, he knocked out Ferdinand Putra in ninth place.
Koon hit a runner-runner queen-high straight to win the knockout with pocket queens and kings out. It was the second time in a week that Putra had bubbled in a tournament.
Koon had built momentum as soon as the final table began.
He scooped a massive pot after his pocket aces dominated Michael Watson's pocket queens, sending Watson home in seventh place. Watson earned $235,000 for his efforts.
After Watson's elimination, the action continued at a rapid pace, and players were eliminated in quick succession.
Wai Leong Chan was knocked out in sixth place after his was dominated by Dvoress’
.
Although both players had flushes, Dvoress's ace-high hand won the pot and sent Chan home with $293,000.
Big Hands Shape the Final Table
The pressure increased as the field was down to the last five players.
Russian poker pro Khadartsev's tournament life came to an end after clashing with Winfred Yu.
Khadartsev shoved with , and Yu called, holding
, which had him dominated from the start.
It got even worse for Khadartsev when Yu made a straight, which sealed the deal and sent Khadartsev to the rail with $378,000.
Koon looked unstoppable and dominated key hands.
Koon held pocket queens once again and went up against Kiat Lee's .
He flopped top set and improved to a full house by the river and knocked out Lee from the tournament in fourth place.
Despite his elimination, Lee took home $487,000 in winnings, which comes just one day after winning another short deck event.
Only three players remained: Koon, Dvoress, and Yu, turning the action into a test of patience and timing.
As the blinds increased and the stacks got smaller and the stakes got higher, the chip lead changed hands many times.
Dvoress had his big break. He went all-in with against Yu's
, but he was behind when the flop of
landed.
But a runner-runner straight kept him in the game and changed the course of events.

Heads-Up Drama Seals the Result
Winfred Yu was working hard to stay in the game, and it seemed he had built momentum after getting two double-ups.
However, his tournament life ended in third place when Dvoress's paired the board to beat Yu's
. This set up a heads-up battle with Koon.
There was $383,000 between first and second place because the last two players didn't make a deal.
Koon held pocket queens for the third time, but this time luck was not on his side.
Dvoress held . Koon had a smaller stack than Dvoress at the start, but he had a good chance to take control if his hand held.
Dvoress was in the lead when an landed on the flop, and Koon needed one of the last queens to win. The turn and river didn't help, and the title slipped away.
Dvoress took down the event and took home the title. This win adds another big title to his list of accomplishments.
Despite losing the title, Dvoress Koon's second-place finish added his total Triton earnings to more than $37.4 million in Triton earnings, making him one of the most successful players in the tour's history.
