Adrian Mateos continues to prove that he is one of the biggest stars in the modern poker scene.
Mateos took down the 2026 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro presented by CoinPoker and walked away with a title and a $6,370,000 cash prize.
This was a major achievement for his already legendary poker career.
Record Field Creates Huge Prize Pool
The tournament attracted 137 entries and generated a prize pool of $27.4 million. Only 23 players made the money.
Popular players were eliminated shortly before the final table, including Paul Phua, Alex Foxen, Dan Smith, Kristen Foxen, and Jason Koon, who has won 12 Triton events.
By the start of Day 3, there were only 12 players left, and each had a guarantee to take home at least $466,000.
Maher Nouira began Day 3 as the chip leader, and it looked like he could take the title, while Mateos was in fifth place.
As Day 3 progressed, the field got smaller, and Danilo Velasevic was the first player to be eliminated, finishing tenth.
Dramatic Final Table Action
In an impressive and completely shocking first hand at the final table, veteran poker pro Isaac Haxton went all-in with , and lost to Anatoly Zlotnikov
when an ace of hearts fell on the board.
Haxton finished 9th and earned $635,000. He currently has a total of over $67.5 million in career earnings after this tournament.
Not long after this hand was dealt, there was another significant moment in the tournament when Mateos A-10 went all-in against Nouira, who had pocket 10s.
Mateos looked as if he were going to lose the hand until an ace landed on the river card. It gave him a winning pair and allowed him to double up on the hand, which gave him momentum at the table.
Eelis Parssinen was the next player to be eliminated from the tournament when he lost his to Kiat Lee's pocket .
Mateos Takes Complete Control
Mateos' tournament life looked like it had come to an end after a tough stretch of play.
However, he turned things around with three huge hands in quick succession.
His biggest hand came when he was part of a three-way all-in.
Mateos held pocket aces, Kiat Lee, pocket queens, and Ilia Zlotnikov with .

The board completely ran out well for Mateos, and he eliminated Kiat Lee in 7th with pocket aces for a pot of $1,085,000.
After eliminating Kiat Lee, Mateos eliminated Nouira in another big hand again losing the lead in the early action after Nouira made a pair of hole cards on the turn.
But once again Mateos rivered an ace and busted Nouira in 6th place for $1,466,000.
Zlotnikov's run ended shortly thereafter after moving all in with , failing against Mateos'
, and collecting $1,890,000 for a 5th place finish.
After Zlotnikov's elimination, as the tournament was down to the last five players.
Alexey Lozuyk was gaining momentum and started to put some pressure on Mateos, closing the gap on the chip leader.
Ben Heath would eliminate Andre Berg, who held pocket sixes against Ben Heath's pocket jacks.
Heath would eventually succumb to Mateos when Heath held and failed to improve Mateos’ pocket sevens, earning Heath a total of $2,877,000 as a third-place finisher.
Mateos Finishes the Job Heads-Up
Lozuyk began heads-up play with a small chip lead, but Mateos took early control of the duel.
The duel's first significant pot went to the Spaniard as he flopped a straight with versus Lozuyk's pocket aces.
While Lozuyk managed to double his stack once during the battle, Mateos regained the chip lead just after the last hand of the tournament when Lozuyk raised to 80,000 with .
Mateos then moved all-in with and called for all his remaining chips from the pot.
