This week’s biggest news is from Las Vegas, where Jerome Neppl won his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in 2026.

He beat out a field of 906 players in the $500 Industry Employees No-Limit Hold’em Event to take home both his first WSOP gold bracelet and the largest cash prize of his poker career for $64,083.

Jerome Neppl, a poker dealer from New Mexico, had limited poker experience before attending this tournament.

He put together a very solid two-day run of play throughout the event.

The Industry Employees Event has long been known as the traditional first-of-summer WSOP bracelet event that honours those working in the casino and poker industry before all other WSOP events begin.

Jerome started Day 2 as the chip leader and kept himself in contention until the end of the tournament.

A pivotal point in the tournament was when Jerome scooped a massive pot with a set of queens after hitting a queen on the flop.

This gave him a significant chip advantage over his opponents.

The final table featured players from the United States, Brazil, and China.

After Jerone eliminated Skylar Halama in third place, this set the stage for Jerome to battle Sean Hamrick heads-up.

The decisive hand was played around 2 AM local time.

Hamrick held  versus Neppl's

Hamrick was ahead postflop, but Neppl improved to trip 9s on the river, which sealed the victory.

This win will significantly improve Neppl's finances, as he stated he will pay off his debts and move to Florida.

While the WSOP was getting a lot of media coverage in Las Vegas, Daniel Dvoress was busy making history in European Poker by winning three Triton Super High Roller Series events in the Triton Series held in Montenegro.

Dvoress made history by becoming the first player to win three Triton titles in a single series.

He began the run with a victory in the $25,000 NLHE event before capturing the $100,000 PLO Main Event for more than $2 million.

He then added the $25,000 PLO Turbo Bounty Quattro title to complete the historic treble.

The three wins brought his total earnings from the Triton Series to $3.5 million.

He defeated many prominent players like Patrik Antonius, Joao Simao, Lautaro Guerra, and Robert Cowen.

Dvoress found himself at odds with many players at the final table but gradually regained control of the event.

He kept attacking his opponents and made an incredible comeback during three-handed play.

His  cracked Guerra’s  in a massive pot, giving him the tournament chip lead.

His victory brought Dvoress' career tournament winnings to over $58 million, allowing him to jump ahead of Daniel Negreanu in total career tournament winnings and become the most successful Canadian tournament player ever.

On Wednesday night, Houston Police continued their investigation into gambling violations by raiding the Lucky J Social Club.

Three people were arrested, over $350,000 in cash and gaming equipment were seized, and several law enforcement agencies used SWAT teams and aerial surveillance drones as part of the event.

Video taken at the scene indicated that officers were removing dozens of individuals inside the building who were still playing.

Several players had their hands raised above their heads as officers secured the area.

According to local reports, local residents had recently complained about illegal gambling at this location, and investigators used undercover officers to learn more before the raid occurred.

The number of people arrested is currently undetermined, reported to range from 3 to 5, and more arrests may be forthcoming as this investigation continues.

The property has undergone several ownership phases before reaching its current state.

The poker club is currently called Lucky J, but it has operated under many different names in the past, including 88 Social, 101 Richmond, and Elite Social Club, by Johnny Chan, a ten-time WSOP bracelet winner.

The raid occurred only a few months after the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission had investigated another Texas Poker Club located in Round Rock named The Lodge due to other allegations of money laundering; however, no one was charged.

Finally, in the video, Amanda expressed her excitement that she and Daniel had been trying for quite some time to have a baby.

Daniel Negreanu joked he had already purchased a set of golf clubs in anticipation of his first child.

Currently, what will be remembered most will be Jerome Neppl's first-time bracelet win, Daniel Dvoress's record-setting Triton run, the Houston Poker Club raid, and Daniel Negreanu's announcement about his upcoming child.
